Awesome New Republic!
ANR is a team of two multi-instrumentalist performers Brian Robertson (age 22), and Michael-John Hancock (age 23), who met and began playing together as students at the University of Miami School of Music. They have the worst name since Ninja High School. They recorded half of their lastest album "ANR So Far" in a bedroom. And they appropriate dance and pop music like smarmy indie kids, grabbing whatever they want and singing in a crooning falsetto lyrics that barely take themselves seriously. Every warning light went off when I started listening to Awesome New Republic, and yet I can't stop playing the album, which not only lives up to its own jokes and conceits but delivers some of contemporary indie rock's best neurotic party tracks.

Their material is really rough just like "Arctic Monkeys" where u get the feeling of live recordings and gigs rather than modern digitalised studio productions. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have welcomed a baby girl, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, a rep for the couple confirms in a statement to PEOPLE. The child was born on May 27, at night, in the African country of Namibia. The new parents, along with kids Maddox, 4, and Zahara, 1, have been staying at a luxury resort in Namibia since April, where their personal security team and Namibian police have shielded them from paparazzi. Last week, the Namibian government said foreign journalists wishing to cover the birth must have written permission from Pitt and Jolie to enter the country and obtain a work permit. The new girl is the couple's first biological child. Jolie adopted Maddox from Cambodia in 2002 and Zahara from Ethiopia last year. Pitt is in the process of legally adopting both children.

It's A Boy!
It's a boy for Gwen Stefani and her rocker husband Gavin Rossdale. Kingston James McGregor Rossdale was born by Caesarean section Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to Stefani spokesman Dave Tomberlin. The baby weighed 7 1/2 pounds.

"Both mother and child are doing well," Tomberlin said in a statement.

It's the first child for Stefani, 36, and Rossdale, 38, who were married in 2002. Rossdale, who fronted the rock band Bush, has a 16-year-old daughter with fashion designer Pearl Lowe.

Taylor Hicks won the 5th Season of American Idol this past week and Idol producers did something they've never done before, they rushed his first single to radio immediately after the finale. The song is entitled "Do I Make You Proud?" and it ranks as probably one of the better American Idol singles. It's still tacky, but good!
